DDS Services in Sacramento County

The California Department of Developmental Services (“DDS”) serves developmentally disabled individuals throughout the state. To ensure care that is both local and highly responsive to each individual’s needs, DDS administers care through a network of 21 regional centers. Each center functions as a hub for services, supports, and other resources. The Alta California Regional Center (“ACRC”) is the core of all DDS services in Sacramento County. If you or your loved one receives support through DDS, it’s important to become familiar with ACRC.

Key Services Offered at ACRC

ACRC, as with all DDS regional centers, provides a broad range of supports and services. While the following list is far from comprehensive, it covers some of the biggest services ACRC provides. For additional services and programs, reach out directly to ACRC or consult your care coordinator.

Intake, Eligibility, and Assessment

If you believe you or your loved one may have a developmental disability, contact ACRC to schedule an assessment interview. Disabilities like autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, epilepsy, or other related conditions qualify for DDS services.

Early Start Program

For infants and toddlers ages 0-3 with developmental delays or at risk of delay, Sacramento families have access to the Early Start Program. This program offers age-appropriate therapy and support. Additionally, when children age out of Early Start, the program will help transition them into preschool and on into the public school system.

Service Coordination and Individual Planning

Once eligible, clients receive a care coordinator who helps identify supports and helps develop an Individual Program Plan (“IPP”). With an IPP in place, care coordinators help monitor progress and connect families and individuals to appropriate care providers and other important community resources.

Residential and Employment Assistance

ACRC offers a number of services for developmentally disabled adults interested in independent living and employment. Specifically, care coordinators help pair DDS participants with a range of residential services and options most suitable for each individual’s needs. Similarly, ACRC helps people access employment training services and opportunities like internships.

ACRC is There to Serve

Eligibility for DDS services does not depend on income. If you have a qualifying disability you are eligible to participate. For DDS services in Sacramento County, contact ACRC to discover what resources are available.
